College KIDS and Ramadan
I wanted to write about this yesterday after reading one of the local papers but I didn’t get the chance to so here it is today!
In one of the papers yesterday there was an article relating to how college students today are complaining about school and Ramadan! When I read it all I could think about was how spolied these children, yes children, are to be complaining about school in Ramadan! Why? Because they have it made and their life is so much easier compared to students studying abroad!
College and University students in the European or American schools in Europe or the US have to work extremely hard compared to the kids here! The students abroad have to go to school and suffer through classes and all whilst other people around them are eating and drinking and they are fasting! While school kids here have the luxury of people not allowed to eat or drink in public!
I know teachers in Kuwait who have changed the times they give their exams during Ramadan and also gave their kids more days off for Eid! That won’t happen for those students abroad! The students who are out of Kuwait have to do their exams during fu6oor if they have to and timings are set!
So to all you KIDS in universities here in Kuwait, especially KU, grow up! Consider yourself lucky! BTW if you are wondering why I keep calling people who go to Kuwaiti schools KIDS, well that’s cause you need to grow up and stop complaining about petty stuff like school during Ramadan!
To all those studying abroad and fasting, I have so much respect for you girls and guys and I wish you all the best!

I said it before and I will say it again, no need for education, send them home, lazy bunch snobbish rich cock hair spoiled brats.

So true. It was just there and you dealt with it no complaints.

Snookie: There you go! You’re the perfect current example! Something I went through was taking an exam during Ramadan and no food or drinks were allowed in the classroom! BTW, I seegiving the last 10 days off is a big waste of time! If the last 10 days are given as a Holiday then Eid should ba 1 day vacation!
Purg: I know what you mean! Some kids need home schooling with a stick!
Nibaq: Exactly!

Purg : Feel free to do so and you can start in Shwaikh, then Khaldiya!

stallion, when I was studying in lau in lebanon, a lot of muslim students, kuwaiti and others, would not fast most of the time cos of the surroundings. and this is keeping in mind that Lebanese schools respect Ramadan timings! Many do fast and ur right, they go through a lot of shit throughout the day. I got my cousin in France who fasts till 7:30 p.m. everyday! and she is surrounded by people eating and drinking. As u said, students here are spoiled brats and wont know what they have unless they suffer like those abroad. They have it easy. If they cant handle fasting, then simply dont fast and stop complaining…. as u corrected me once… “if u cant handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen!”

Fonzy: Thanks for the example!

What a bunch of wusses.
Us U.S. college graduates would fast all day, with several classes in between and break the fast at 9pm (maghrib).
And you are right, we would hang out before-hand in the cafeteria between classes while others smoked, drinked, ate, and drank coffee (that was the tough test!).

Amer: I know what you mean! I am a US graduate and I have done what you did! I know what I have to go thorugh! I’ve had 7 ramadans in the US!

Nuwaibiya: Welcome to my blog but it seems like you did not understand my post! I was not talking about how kids here get vacations and stuff! I was talking about the newspaper article where kids in the local universities were complaining that they have lots of homework, their timings are off, and that they have lots of pressure on them! Ay pressure! They have it easy! Do you get what I am saying?
Howahkan: Welcome to my blog and thanks for the input!

I remember not being able to berak my fast many many times because I had class, an exam or was too into doing HW.
I totaly agree with everything EVERYTHING in your post, you spoke my mind. Oh don’t mention that those students abroad get more credit because they see people around them eating and drinking. Unlike Kuwait where everyone is fasting so there is no temptation to eat.

Its tough but nothing to complain about really its just a month, what I’m doing to pass the time inbetween classes is watching anime could get 5 episodes in before the lectures
smoking drinking food is not the problem for me just the sleep deprevation but I manage and so can they!!!
October 17th, 2006 at 4:02 pm
Can I add shopa to the list of people I can beat?
October 17th, 2006 at 4:02 pm
Shopa: Thank you very much!
Tat: As a local student I’m glad you’re saying that and not complaining like the other kids! As for sleep deprevation, you can fix that easily! ;o)
October 17th, 2006 at 4:04 pm
Purg: Why do you want to beat Shopa?
October 17th, 2006 at 4:54 pm
Just like you said it’s ’cause they’re spoiled kids!

It is a sensetive issue. But that’s the way we are evolving making the world always better for the new or younger generations.
Comparing with the students here in U.S one would say they have it easy.
The saying: “I cried because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet.” is appropriate for the complaining students.
Off topic: Today, I asked my dentist where he was from. He said Jordan and then asked if I knew where it was. I said I do but just to make sure I’ll google it! He couldn’t stop laughing.
Guess you were right
October 18th, 2006 at 1:08 am

October 18th, 2006 at 7:54 am

Extinct-Dodo: Ahhh ok! Then we can beat them up too!
October 18th, 2006 at 12:28 pm
Many students here have learned that the more you complain, the more the world (the world that they know: Kuwait) will compromise (whether it’s at school, in the home, at work, etc) for them.
I blame the parents, administrators, managers, etc for listening to these ridiculous complaints and “trying to be nice” to the kids (such as giving them the last 10 days of school off). Why is it so hard to tell these kids “Tough. Life is hard. Stop complaining, and deal with it.”?
October 18th, 2006 at 1:06 pm
Caff: Exactly! People should be able to tell their kids “Tough!” I know my parents did that! Seems like all those who are complaining in such a manner aren’t brought up well!
October 18th, 2006 at 1:26 pm

October 18th, 2006 at 6:20 pm
Well, you’re right, but duncha need to talk about the freakin teachers too? they know it’s Ramadan, yet they’re give us more HARD work, i’m talkin about the mechanical engineering teachers, dunno about the rest, but these ppl need sum spanking
October 18th, 2006 at 8:23 pm
Eh dah! I never complained! Ouff, they’re giving students like me a bad name!
October 19th, 2006 at 1:11 am
I’m a KU student, but i don’t complain about Ramadan, I was actually bummed they shifted the classes.
And to be honest, it’s not a students in kuwait issue vs. students abroad issue, Kuwaitis in general bitch and moan about everything! My friends studying abroad bitch and complain about everything when they’re back, maya3jib-hom il 3ajab, etc, etc. I’m all for criticizing, but don’t be a hypocrite or allow it to happen and still complain.
What I’m trying to say, it’s a culture thing. We complain, we’re never satisfied always finding something to complain about, we CANNOT for the life of us just say, i lost/were wrong, and there’s nothing wrong with it and I’m sorry. It’s always the other person’s fault. These are found EVERYWHERE, min il wizarat, to normal every-day situations, to sports matches, politics, etc, etc
October 19th, 2006 at 8:13 am
Blasha : See I don’t know anything about that so I can’t discuss it but thanks for the info!
Sou : Sorry!
Dishevelled : I know what you mean and I have to admit I agree with you about how our society has been taught to be lazy complainers who want everything done for them! As for hearing complaints I stop them and tell them to suck it up since they chose to put themselves in that situation!
October 20th, 2006 at 3:27 pm
Geez, what’s wrong with them? Man I’m studying in England and I have to fast aswell, and none of the people that fast with me don’t complain. They ARE lucky, what do they do when they get home? Sleep until fa6oor so they don’t even spend half of the time fasting awake… BTW miss you a lot Stallion
October 28th, 2006 at 10:19 pm
Black Widow: Thanks for your comment and I miss you alot as well! I hope you’re enjoying your time in England despite being there for school!
