From Dubai to Bahrain then to Kuwait

My last post titled, “Long Overdue and Dubai” talked about a long weekend vacation but it neglected to state that after leaving Dubai, Nibaq and I proceeded to the borders of Bahrain! Yes people! Call us crazy but we’re 2 young men who wanted an adventure!

We had a friend, Purg, who was in Bahrain on a business trip so we decided to meet up with him there! We hit the Emirati - Saudi border and the customs officer checked everything in the car even my laptop! I think it took us 45 minutes to get out of the border! Once we were done there we had to make a small detour to drop somethings off at some Saudi company and then headed on our way to Bahrain! We got to Bahrain at about 10PM and had dinner after checking into the hotel room! People who live in Kuwait, be thankful you have restaurants here that are open at late hours of the night! We were extremely hungry so we tried the restaurants in the hotel and all of them were closed and it was only 10PM! We ended up going into the Mexican-like restaurant right before they took the buffet away! All we had was appetizers and dessert! The actual main course was the same food that was sitting in the pots since 6PM and by the time we got there there were no burners under the pots so the food was cold!

After that dreadful dinner we went to our rooms and called it a night! I was upset at how bad the beds were and I thought to myself, “How could anyone sleep on such a firm mattress that feels like a wooden board?” But for those who know me, you know it wasn’t hard for me to go to sleep and I actually passed out a few minutes after laying down! Woke up and got cleaned up before checking out and having brunch at Lilo Cafe which really hit the spot! A friend of mine met up with us at the Cafe and I would like to thank him for picking up the tab even though he knew he shouldn’t have! He was just being a gracious host! Purg came to the Cafe and hung out for a bit before having to go back to meetings and seminars!

We then hit the road back to Kuwait but had a stop in Damam (Saudi Arabia) to check this box cutting machine that was pretty kewl! We arrived at Nibaq’s place where the trip originally started at 7:30 ish in the evening on Sunday. I couldn’t stay there cause I had to drop things off at another friend’s place before going to the airport to pick Purg up! After picking him up we went directly to EDO and had an amazing dinner then I took him home and I went home and crashed!

Oh, BTW, I failed to mention my car hit 200,000 kms on the way back to Kuwait and you can see the video below showing you when it hit! We got the 200,200 kms mark right after passing the Saudi border heading towards Kuwait!
